Where We’ve Been
Where We’ve Been: A Journey of Community Growth and Connection
Over the past decade, the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation has been at the heart of transformative work—connecting people, places, and purpose. From greenways to cultural celebrations, our efforts have laid a strong foundation for a thriving, inclusive community.
🌿 Greenways: Paving Paths to Nature and Neighborhoods
We’ve laid the groundwork—literally—for over 10 miles of greenways in our design plan. With nearly $900,000 invested (not including the $800,000 grant the City secured using our design documents), this initiative has been a major milestone in our commitment to outdoor access and wellness.
Thanks to extensive fundraising, research, design, surveying, and construction drawings, and a strong partnership with the City, we’ve opened:
- Phase One: A 1.2-mile asphalt path from Tuckaseege Park to the Municipal Complex.
- Mountain Island Park Section: A 1.5-mile natural path.
- Dutchmans’ Creek Section: Being built 2025–2026.
We’re proud to sponsor FROGS (Friends of the Greenway), a group dedicated to stewardship and community engagement around these trails.
We also incubated the Farmers Market and Arts on the Greenway, both of which have grown into their own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, continuing the mission of community enrichment and access.
Downtown: Revitalization Rooted in Heritage
Our downtown transformation has been powered by revitalization bonds, ABC support, and a deep respect for our history:
- A Historic District study and designation now enables tax credits for improvements.
- Plaques honor the stories behind our buildings.
- We cultivated and passed on the group that evolved into the Historical Society.
Beautification efforts include pocket gardens, gateways, downtown planters, and a courtyard garden. The Farmers Market, which incubated our thriving Community Garden, and annual 5K/10K Run/Walks bring neighbors together in celebration of health and community.
🎨 Economic Development & Culture
We’ve collaborated with the City on a vibrant cultural scene, bringing life and energy to our streets through events like:
- Arts on Main
- Autumn on Main
- Mount Holly Days
- Mount Holly Art & Music Festival
- Photo Contest
- Leap Outdoors at Tuck Park
- Lantern Parade
Our Foundation has supported Main Street program education, the Merchant Association, and shop local events that boost small businesses.
Grants & Visioning
We’ve secured over $50,000 in façade and community grants, and conducted feasibility studies for a co-op and outdoor venue. Through pass-through grants, we’ve supported projects like the Massey Clock, and improvements for the City, Farmers Market, Fire Department, and Police Department.
This history reflects a decade of dedication, collaboration, and vision. The Foundation’s work has not only built infrastructure—it has built relationships, opportunities, and a legacy of community pride.
